The Story

This piece started as pure experimentation – playing with colours and brush movements, no destination in mind. I let it sit for a few days, and when I came back to it, something had emerged. Circular, upward strokes that looked like the outline of a face. An incidental section of paint that could be an eye. Another area where the brushwork formed elongated fingers reaching into the frame. From there, I started visualising an abstract portrait with a slightly un-human hand grasping forward. I wanted to keep it abstract – not literal, but felt. A combination of acrylic, soft pastels, and charcoal brought it to life. The result is an unknown yet strangely familiar presence, like someone you’ve seen before but can’t quite place.
